Energy of the Sun around us

The solar radiation - radiation energy of the Sun - is the main power source of atmospheric processes; it is measured by a heat quantity and expresses in megajoules on 1 sq.m. The radiation energy of the Sun reaches a surface, inpouring through atmospheric slices, which one particulate occludes, mirrors and disperses a solar radiation.

Straight line irradiation - solar radiation reaching a surface by the way of a parallel beam bundle, outgoing directly from the Sun's disk. Dispersed irradiation - solar radiation, undergo dissipation in atmosphere, goes on a surface from all firmament. Per overcast days it is an alone power source in ground atmospheric slices near ground.

Total solar radiation - is a sum of a straight line and dispersed solar radiation that are reached in vivo on a surface. It depends on a geographic latitude, elevation above sea level, air transparency and cloud cover. In mining regions the distribution of a solar radiation is very complex, as its value is determined also by exposition and steepness of declines. The distribution of total radiation is shown for flatnesses and piedmonts with true altitudes up to 600 m.

In all terrain, except for some regions of Central Asia, south of Eastern Siberia and Far East, in winter prevails dispersed irradiation, in summer a straight line solar radiation dominates.

The map of distribution of a total solar radiation in January in terrain of CIS gives the information on quantity of energy, which one reachs the surface of a soil in the most cold season of year.
The map of distribution of a total solar radiation in July in terrain of CIS gives the information on quantity of energy, which one reachs the surface of a soil in in the warmest season of year.
The map of distribution of a total solar radiation in January in terrain of Ukraine.
By red lines with digits the isolines of a total solar radiation in megajoules on 1 sq.m are indicated.
The map of distribution of a total solar radiation in July in terrain of Ukraine.
By red lines with digits the isolines of a total solar radiation in megajoules on 1 sq.m are indicated.

The calculations demonstrate, that quantity of a solar energy, which one reachs the ground’s surface in Ukraine, nowadays considerably prevails existing usage of energy from borning of coal, oil, gas and obtained from atomic power stations.

The maps are adduced pursuant to the Atlas of the USSR, Moscow, 1984
